25th Anniversary

CELEBRATING 25 YEARS

Throughout 2015, as the Conservancy marks 25 years of connecting people with nature, we invite you to celebrate our accomplishments and history, participate in our programs and events, and stay tuned as we share plans for our future. We will update this page with news and special announcements during the year, so check back often.

Since our founding in 1990 by a group of local citizens interested in land conservation and preservation, the Conservancy has:

  • Hosted more than 70,000 students for field trips.
  • Welcomed 20,000  people at our public education events.
  • Helped protect over 1,550 acres of Howard County land with conservation easements.
  • Benefited from countless volunteer hours.
  • Served as steward to a historic, 232-acre family farmstead at Mt. Pleasant location.
  • Expanded to a second nature center in Elkridge.
