Bring the Conservancy to Your School or Organization!
The Conservancy offers traveling educational programs for schools, community groups and local organizations. Outreach programs are designed to help connect people to the natural world and can be adjusted meet your needs. Program sessions typically range from 45-55 minutes and work best with groups of 60 or less. Please view the flyer for additional program details including curriculum alignment.
Outreach Programs Offered:
Monarch Butterflies: Grade 3
An interactive program on Monarch butterflies’ adaptations, life cycle, survival strategies, and more! 60 students per session. $125/ session; $100/ additional
Owl Program: All ages
Meet the Conservancy’s owls, Ranger (barred owl) and Monty (screech owl). Participants will learn about owls’ unique features and adaptations, hunting techniques and habitats. 60 students per session.
Single Owl Outreach: $200/ session, $125/ additional. Double Owl Outreach: $300/ session, $150/ additional.
Chesapeake Bound: Grades 2-5
Get hands-on experience with our watershed! Explore the impact humans have on animals and our environments and meet the Conservancy’s diamondback terrapin. 30 students per session. $150/ session; $125/ additional
Herptiles and Habitats: Grades 2-5
Meet two of the Conservancy’s herptiles and learn about the unique features, adaptations and habitats of Maryland’s native reptiles and amphibians. 60 students per session. $150/session; $125/ additional.
Mapping Maryland Program: Grades 3-4 An interactive program using our 14′ x 21′ Maryland map. Program covers the geographical history of Maryland, mapping, environmental resources, human impacts on the land and more! 60 students per session. $125/session. $100/ additional.
Wild Designs: Grade K-5 Experience how animals and plants’ structures help them to survive in their specific climates and habitats. Learn hands-on with different artifacts and interactive activities to explore life across the US and Maryland. $125/session. $100/ additional.
Giant Map of Maryland Rental:
$35 for 2 weeks if picked up at Howard County Conservancy
$45 for 2 weeks includes rental and delivery to any school within a 5 mile radius of the Conservancy at either or Woodstock or Belmont location Rental Includes: Giant Map of MD (14.4′ x 21′), 5 interactive activities & materials *The lesson bin is available on a first come, first serve basis and is rented for two weeks at a time. Payment and rental agreement required.
