Spotted at the Conservancy: Ebony jewelwing

This tiny damselfly, only about an inch and half long, caught Lisa Mayo’s eye this summer. “The damselflies were very active and skittish, but this one kept fluttering around in the same area, seemingly not bothered by my presence,” Mayo said, so she quickly made this portrait. Damselflies eat mosquitoes, gnats and aphids, so we welcome them in the garden!
